David A. Myers received his B.S. in Music Education and a M.Ed. specializing
in Middle Level Education from the University of Vermont. He is active
in curriculum development, interdisciplinary teaching, assessment research
and is developing an Instrumental Music Portfolio process. Mr Myers has
taught numerous classes and workshops for teachers on how to intergrate
music into the classroom, developing interdisciplinary units and developing
successful teacher advisories.
Mr. Myers has been composing music for band since 1985 with over forty
works to date. His works are considered by colleagues to be fresh and innovative.
David has studied composition with Julius Williams, and received instruction
form Dr. Quincy Hilliard, Jerry Nowak, and the gifted band composer, Clare
Grundman.
David is responsible for a program of 230 students, four bands, and many
small ensembles at Shelburne Middle School in Shelburne, Vermont. He has
received several honors for his work in Shelburne including the Governor's
Commendation for Excellence in Arts and Community Service presented by
Gov. Howard Dean in 1991.
David and Shelle Myers reside in Georgia, Vermont with daughters Lauren
and Carly. Mr Myers is a member of ASCAP, and has recently been promoted
to the rank of Warrant Officer and has been assigned to command his 40th
Army Band, Vermont Army National Guard unit's Reserve Band.
