Bert Truax began studing trumphet at the age of 7 and at age 13 was trumphet soloist with the San Francisco Symphony. Bert has been a member of the Dallas Symphony Orchestra since his graduation from the Curtis Institute of Music in 1976. In 1985 Mr. Truax took a leave of absence to play trumpet with the Philadelphia Orchestra.

Bert began composing for the Dallas Symphony trumphet section in 1978, and many of his works have benn recorded on Chrystal Records. In Febuary 1995 his Fantasy for Trumpet and Orchestra was premiered by David Bilger and the Dallas Symphony Orchestra.
